Bread for the City (BFC) has completed construction on a new, 28,136 square foot comprehensive service center at 1700 Good Hope Road SE. Construction began in January 2019. A virtual grand opening and ribbon cutting took place Thursday, September 3, 2020, which featured legendary DJ Donnie Simpson and DC’s Backyard Band. BFC exceeded it’s $35,000 goal by raising $67,136 to help staff the new center once it’s safe to fully open.
For 12 years, BFC has had the honor of calling WilmerHale a partner, and a friend for even longer! In good times and bad, they have stood by our side: as a financial partner, volunteering with our teams, helping us deliver resources to the community, and raising funding for our programs — and their pandemic response effort is no different!
Bread for the City’s #GivingTuesday was an AMAZING day! With the help of our supporters, Bread for the City raised $117,895 in just 24 hours — meeting our anonymous match of $50,000, and then some–in a big way! When we add in the $50,000 match, we raised a grand total of $167,895 in support of DC residents living on low income.
There’s so much good news on our SE building construction!
