The last Holiday Helpings of the decade is here! 

For more than 20 years, Bread for the City has provided holiday meals to thousands of DC families and our neighbors living on low income. This year is no different. Starting this Friday, November 1, through December 24, we’ll be collecting funds to provide complete holiday meals to families. And we’ve set an ambitious goal. 

This holiday season, we want to celebrate the holidays with 11,000 DC families. That’s 2,000 more than last year. That’s 2,000 more families who will receive a turkey or ham, with all the trimmings (yes, we said ham. It’s been a popular request in previous years and we are thrilled to have it as an option this year!). 

But, we can’t accomplish this goal without your help. A full holiday meal costs $38 to feed a family of four (And did we mention we have ham this year?). There are a few ways to contribute: 

You can sponsor a family (or two, or three… or more) by making a direct donation to Holiday Helpings by visiting: https://breadforthecity.org/donation/holidayhelpings2019. 

OR, if you’d like to maximize your impact and get others in the giving mood, you can host a fundraising drive. This can be an individual or team effort (we encourage the latter!). To create a fundraising drive page:

• • Visit: https://holiday-helpings-2019.blackbaud-sites.com/.
  • Select “Create a Fundraising Page.”
  • Enter your page title, fundraising goal, and your contact information. Don’t be afraid to set an ambitious fundraising goal. For our corporate partners: If you do not want your own name to appear on the page, use your company name for the first and last name.

• Click Submit.

• Choose a profile picture! This is optional but will add a nice personal touch.

• Top it off with your story. Why are you/your company participating in Holiday Helpings? How many years have you provided holiday meals to the community? You are more than welcome to write something or use the auto-populated text.

• Share your page on your social media platforms, with friends and families or other partners for optimum exposure!
• Once you have created your drive page, you will receive an email with your unique URL.
• The Supporter Leaderboard will keep you updated on our goal status!Together, we can make this the biggest Holiday Helpings yet! Mark your calendars. Just $38 starting this Friday, November 1 through December 24 helps us provide a full holiday meal for a family of four.
