Rooftop Gardens
Guest Author: Alex Richardson, staff writer at Aquicore
It’s easy to understand the intangible benefits up on Bread for the City’s roof, surrounded by greenery. The tomato vines in one patch are a tempting shade of red. “Staff eat lunch up there, do yoga up there sometimes, we have open hours in the garden,” Kristen Kozlowski, associate director of development for Bread for the City, told Aquicore. “It’s a beautiful, safe, green space.”

Guest Author: Elton Johnson, Communications Fellow at Bread for the City
“Urban gardening is my form of organizing,” Brother Rashad told us. “What we’re doing here is what I started learning with Terrance Moore. We’re bringing the community together to overcome the challenges in accessing healthy food. We empower when we impart to the community that they don’t have to be dependent on toxic, unhealthy food, and then reintroduce them to their green thumbs.”
