At Bread for the City, we are entering a critical phase in our COVID-19 response work: expanding our testing program by opening our doors to anyone with barriers to healthcare access. To provide this essential service out of our Northwest DC facility’s medical center, we are opening a walk-up testing operation in our parking area. The tent has been donated; the doctors have volunteered; and our remaining personal protective equipment is stocked and ready to go. Now, all we need is YOU.
Since our first day of service in 1974, an important part of our mission has been to bring healthcare to uninsured and under-insured residents of DC. This mission has only become more important during the pandemic. Your gift today will help us test 100 people a week for COVID-19: providing the information our community needs to stay safe.
With assistance from residents at the George Washington University School of Medicine, a donated tent, and our own providers on staff, we’re prepared to test thousands of people in DC over the coming weeks and months -- all safely in our NW Center parking lot.
By increasing DC’s testing capacity, we can make sure that COVID-19 rates decline. It’s really that simple.
Thank you for your support of this vital public health effort.
Bread for the City has been helping people in Washington, DC for 46 years, and we aren’t stopping now. Your gift today will provide COVID-19 tests to DC residents from across the city: ensuring that they have the information they need to keep themselves and their community safe.
