Bread for the City has partnered with Black Women Thriving East of the River to launch a scholarship fund aimed at increasing the number of women from underrepresented communities in health-related careers. Scholarships are available to provide financial assistance for certification, licensure, and educational costs. The program also includes ongoing wrap-around support for those currently enrolled in workforce development or advanced degree programs in any health-related field.

You must be currently in or interested in pursuing a health-related career You must identify as a woman or a gender non-conforming person from underrepresented communities. You must be a DC resident who lives in or has generational ties to Wards 7 or 8

Program Benefits
  • Life skills and work readiness workshops
  • Career guidance and connections with networks
  • Financial assistance can be applied to transportation, childcare, and other non-course related financial burdens (Up to $10,000 determined by level of study and need)
  • Additional wrap-around services (food assistance, health services, financial literacy, etc.)
