Did you know Bread for the City has a rooftop garden? We are preparing our garden for an abundant growing season.
Currently Growing: Squash, Cucumbers, Beans, Herbs, & Cut Flowers
Currently Ready for Harvest: Rosemary, Sage, Oregano, Mint, Dill, Swiss Chard, Kale, Collard Greens, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Peppers
Produce will be available at our Free Farmers Market on Fridays in our NW center (see farmers market schedule here), in our pantry as available, and you can come harvest your own produce if desired. To harvest your own produce, please contact our garden coordinator, Alyssa, to schedule a visit! Contact information is below.
If you’re interested in volunteering in the garden, would like to donate to the garden, or have any other questions, please email Alyssa at asteele@breadforthecity.org. We have weekly volunteering in the garden on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Be sure to sign up on our volunteer page.
There are typically 2 garden workshops per month, flyers can be found in our lobby. Follow our garden Instagram for the most up to date workshop notifications @a_dc_rooftopgarden as well as what is happening in the garden.
