Holiday Helpings Drives: Creative Ways to Fundraise!

One of the things we love about Holiday Helpings is that we get to witness the creative ways our drive partners fundraise in their communities. We are amazed by the cool ideas people utilize to connect with their staff, social media followers, family and friends – all in service to our neighbors living on low income. And the creativity we’ve seen is so inspiring! Want to borrow some of their ideas to finish your Holiday Helpings drive in style? Be our guest!

Now, I’d like to turn the spotlight to…

Alston & Bird for always delivering the spirit of joy to Holiday Helpings! Not only do they host a floor by floor competition to boost donations, but Senior Counsel Earl Pomeroy surprised the whole staff at their annual Thanksgiving luncheon by dressing up as a turkey! Now that’s devotion right there.

Jessica Del Vecchio and Chris Williams of Zoeica Images and Jessica Del Vecchio Photography for including a giveaway for people who donate to their drive. With a donation of $32 or more, donors to their drive page will receive a free set of 6 5×5 prints of the Shenandoah National Park!

Perkins Coie LLP for organizing a Jeans Day fundraiser to create a new opportunity for people to participate in their Holiday Helpings drive. By making a $5 or $10 donation, employees were able to trade in their usual business attire for a pair of jeans while also celebrating the holidays together with an ice cream social!

Goodwin Procter for hosting a Thanksgiving potluck competition for their team. Staff celebrated the holidays together with a shared meal, then voted for their favorite dishes by making a donation to their Holiday Helpings drive! It didn’t hurt that they invited us along to be judges…what a tough job!  🙂

Kelley Cannon Events for their outstanding social media engagement! For every comment KCE received on a post, they donated $1 to their own drive. They also reshared BFC’s social media posts to spread the word about Holiday Helpings! Talk about walking the walk!

Emmy Torruellas for rallying her community with an incentive! For every $1,000 she raised, she pledged to run a mile; when she raised $10,000, she signed up for her first 10-mile race and beat her personal record!

We are grateful for the incredible energy and spirit these partners have channeled into Holiday Helpings to connect their networks with DC families and neighbors living with low income and food insecurity.

It’s not too late to kick off your fundraising efforts and host a drive! We have 12 days left; can you help us provide 9,000 holiday meals by Christmas Eve? Find out how using our Drive Kit, and for sample email language, social media posts, and hashtags, check out our Toolkit! In three minutes flat, you’ll be all good to go!
