Good Hope Gala

On May 7th, the Bread for the City community will gather, connecting as many have over the last almost two years - by logging into their computers, phones, or other devices, to hear a message of inspiration, hope, and progress at the 2022 Virtual Good Hope Gala. At Bread for the City, we have seen first hand the resilience and power of our community in Washington, DC. Neighbor helping neighbor. Strangers lending a hand. All ensuring that through all the challenges of these recent times, no one is left behind. The need for Bread for the City’s work is more noticeable now than in any of our previous 47 years. Our vision for a healthy, thriving, and vibrant DC, for all its residents, is still within reach. But we need your support to stem the cycle of poverty experienced across DC.

Will you join us?

Holiday Helpings

Holiday Helpings is an annual tradition at Bread for the City. Throughout November and December, we provide free holiday meals — a turkey and all the trimmings — for our clients to enjoy at home with family and friends. It costs just $32 to provide a family of four with a turkey dinner — so a small gift makes a big difference! We are thankful to our amazing supporters for keeping this Bread for the City tradition alive and thriving.

Southeast Expansion

Bread for the City’s new 28,132 SF comprehensive service center at 1700 Good Hope Road SE (across the street from our existing facility) will be a bigger, better facility and will enable BFC to increase the number of people we serve, offer new programming, expand community partnerships, and improve the overall client experience.

Give Today!

Bread for the City’s services are made possible through the support of thousands of donors like you. Without your support, we would not be able to provide the food, clothing, social, legal, advocacy, and medical services that we do to 10,000 DC residents every month. Thank you!

How can I help?

Effective Monday, August 1st:

Bread for the City will begin distributing groceries at the front door of both centers Mon-Thurs, 9a-4p. No groceries will be distributed on Fridays, but we will still have farmer’s markets once a month at each center!
