Bread for the City’s statement on Trump Administration’s decision to appeal

Bread for the City is disappointed in the Trump Administration’s decision to appeal the lawsuit for making a change in the Agriculture Department’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as Food Stamps, that would cut more than 13,000 DC residents and 700,000 individuals nationally from relief.

It is inhuman and callous for this administration to appeal the ruling to prevent countless individuals and families who are dealing with food insecurity during the pandemic. We are hopeful that the new administration which will start on Wednesday, January 20th will dismiss this mean spirited appeal.

Bread for the City will continue to fight for and to serve all of the community members living on low-incomes and who have suffered even more socioeconomically during this pandemic.
