WASHINGTON, D.C. – The DC Fiscal Policy Institute (DCFPI) is pleased to announce the election of George Jones as Chair of its Board of Directors.
Jones is the long-serving Chief Executive Officer of Bread for the City, a DC-based nonprofit that provides vital wraparound services to over 36,000 low-income residents annually while advocating for systemic reforms to advance racial and economic justice. He has received several accolades and acknowledgments, including being named the 2023 Nonprofit Leader of the Year by the Washington Business Journal.
“We are beyond thrilled to have George Jones transition into the role of Board Chair for DCFPI,” said Erica Williams, executive director of DCFPI. “As we continue to pursue our vision to advance an antiracist, equitable District, I can think of no one who is more invested in that effort than George, whose deep understanding of and commitment to systemic change is rooted in decades of service.”
“I’m extremely humbled to be named the Chair of DCFPI’s Board of Directors, and I’m excited to call much-deserved attention to the very important work that our Board of Directors and DCFPI do to help make DC a socially and racially equitable city,” said George Jones.
Jones’s appointment comes as DCFPI strives to deepen its engagement with partners rooted in impacted communities and further diversify its Board of Directors as part of the organization’s efforts to build a future for the District in which every person, no matter their race or ethnicity, or intersecting identity, has what they need to live to their fullest.
